Medina
del Campo in situated in the middle of a Wide plain, at the South of the
Duero River, in central Castile-Leon. Its topographical uniformity is
the main characteristic of the area.
The Land of Medina is dominated by the agriculture. Parcels of pine forest
or non cultivated plots are rare in the middle of the cultivated fields.
However, there are a couple of pine forests in the North of the town,
the area is called “ Land of Pines ”.
The Land of Medina is a central and well-served area. It is at the South-West
of Valladolid and it is very close to Madrid , the capital. The province
of Valladolid is the Castilian province that has borders with many other
provinces – Zamora , Salamanca , Avila and Segovia.
The main roads that connected Valladolid , the centre and the North of
the region to Madrid have passed through Medina del Campo for a long time.
The main link was made by the N-601, with Olmedo as the main stage. When
the N-VI was converted into a highway, it became a major road on which
Medina del Campo has always been an important marker. These roads, with
the highway that link Valladolid to Salamanca give Medina del Campo a
high accessibility and a strategic position within the economic flows
of the centre and the South East of Castile-Leon. It is also important
to point out that the capital is very close and that Medina del Campo
feels the effects of the influence of Madrid in many senses.
