The traveller who arrives at Plaza Mayor (today Plaza Mayor de la Hispanidad) will find an immense open space surrounded by buildings containing the commercial and administrative offerings which set the rhythm of the town.
It is here that the fairs and festivities of the XV and XVI centuries were held, where each trade and specialty had its own space. It also here that the large buildings representatives of the three traditional powers are located: the Town Hall (Casa Consistorial – City Hall), the Church (Colegiata de San Antolín) and the Crown (Palacio Real – Royal Palace).
In 1978, the Historic Quarter of Medina del Campo was declared a Historic and Artistic Environment.
