The Medina del Campo Tourist Office began its activities on the 1st of October of 1990, passing through various stages of collaboration agreements for its use between Local Corporations and the Employment Institute (INEM).
With these agreements finalised, various possibilities were studied and finally it was the Town Council of Medina del Campo which took charge of what has now been the Municipal Tourist Office since 1992.
To this effect and since then, both this Office and the Town Council itself undertake the task of touristic promotion and divulgation to ensure that each year the number of visitors increases. This activity has been carried out with different cultural and promotional events, which attract and reinforce visits from tourists and travellers to our Town, both in terms of National Inbound Tourism and Foreign Tourism.
The principal duty of the Tourist Office is to provide information and services to the public.
Inbound Tourism consists of those people who visit Medina del Campo and seek interior tourism, of a cultural nature, not only of the Town but its surroundings and the province. These tourists or travellers are informed and guided by means of leaflets, maps and “in situ” explanations in the Tourist offices..
To carry out this task, specific informative and touristic materials are required, such as different informative leaflets and detailed maps of the area indicating the monuments or services of greatest interest for people who wish to know about our heritage..., in brief, all the promotional material deemed necessary and attractive to reinforce the perception of the Town as a tourist destination.
Outbound Tourism consists of the inhabitants of Medina and the region who require and seek information prior to travelling around the Spanish geography.
For the purposes of attending to these two different types of tourism, the Tourist Office, as well as tourist information on the Town, province and routes or different places in Castilla y León, also has general information on the whole of Spain.
The Tourist Office has other internal and administrative duties, such as internal records, cataloguing of leaflets, the organisation of diverse competitions forming part of the Programme of Fairs of Medina del Campo, attendance at different fairs...
