'Festivities'

The town of Medina, with its imposing historic-artistic heritage continues today loyal to its traditions, with its hospitality a factor to be borne in mind during each of its different celebrations.

As well as the secular Running of the bulls during the first few days of September (Declared of Regional Tourist Interest) and its moving Easter Week (Declared of National Tourist Interest), Medina offers another series of celebrations which, despite being more intimate in nature do not cease to be of marked tourist interest.

The town has always had a special link with Santa Teresa, with the yearly commemoration of her saint’s day, for the purposes of fulfilling the bodily perpetual vow taken in deference to Teresa de Ahumada, with the celebration of a mass in the chapel of the second foundation, attended by the Town Hall Corporation together with macebearers and a good part of the townspeople.

San Cristóbal is a special day in Medina when the guild of truckers and lorry-drivers drive through the streets in their vehicles.
Rose petals sought by the incumbents of Santa Rita, the great bonfire at the end of the procession of the Virgen del Amparo, San Antonio “small fair”, San Isidro and its blessing of the fields.

Three long days in February serve the women of Medina to honour their patron Santa Agueda emanating joy and devotion and being, together with the Carnival, the two warmest celebrations in the midst of the Castilian winter.

All of them festivities, with a long tradition already mentioned, where the inhabitants of the town are always ready and willing to share with visitors and foreigners, with the sole intention of keeping these festivities intact for future generations.
